    HIGH ADRENALIN DAY IN ULAANBAATAR

    Jpeg

    Fight or Flight

The weather was very cold for me, approximately 1-3 degree Celsius in Ulaanbaatar. My poor literature review on weather issue was greatly affected my journey on that day. Yes, it was absolutely ‘high Adrenalin’ day for me but fortunately I managed to catch my bus to Ulan Ude, Russia. Immediately after left the Ulaanbaatar train station, I approached people at the taxi station by showing my ticket. One of the guy urged me to get into his car as time was running.

WHAT A BAD MOVE I made….Without negotiating the price I followed him blindly..THUNTHUN THUN THUNTTT! [BEETHOVEN’S DRAMATIC MUSIC USED IN MANY CLASSIC HORROR FILMS]

The taxi driver was tall and big sized. Rarely seen such big structure in South East Asia. He was friendly and kept joking in Mongol throughout the journey. Even I wasn’t  able to capture any of his words, it did entertained me.

Once reached the bus station, he was demanding for 25,000 Tugrik (12USD) (I wasn’t out of the car at that time). The distance wasn’t even 5 km and too clear he is trying to rip off me badly. When I tried to offer him 15,000 Tugrik (from back seat), he started to grumble in Mongol aggressively. It was very clear his adrenalin as his size, was confirmed to ‘FIGHT’ meanwhile my adrenalin offered me only one choice, that was to ‘FLIGHT’ because size mattered at that time.

Without wasting time, I forced him to accept the 15,000 Tugrik by placing the money at the car seat and got down from the car instantly. My instinct was correct, he was helpless after I started to walk fast towards the crowded area at the bus station. Luckily, I didn’t place my backpack at the boot. Otherwise……… THUN! THUN! THUN!
